I have a passion for association management theory and was privileged to serve CalSAE as their VP of Education and Development. I was responsible for strategies and activities related to the creation of compelling learning opportunities for the membership (and potential membership) of CalSAE. I was also responsible for the overall strategic direction of events and communications as they relate to those professional development experiences and worked on a consultative basis on facilitator/speaker selection, content development, research and analysis for our signature programs.Key initiatives from my tenure include the development of a comprehensive and integrated educational program, the development and launch of the Insights Executive Conference, xPresso Ed program and CalSAE Connects, our online social media system.With assistance and advice from valuable colleagues, committed volunteers and the CalSAE staff team, I maintained a laser focus on innovation, quality and the diversification of our educational offerings to appeal to different targeted segments within our membership.

Chief operating officer of a 10,000 member 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable association. Worked with 35 independently incorporated local affiliates plus our national entity. Successfully worked with staff to execute 2007 Annual Conference & Expo with 4,100 attendees, 300 educational workshops over three days, trade show with 225 booths and 130 exhibiting companies in less than 9 months with a $250 K profit. Liaison with Department of Education Child Development Division. Handled legislative and regulatory matters. Other main areas of responsibility included sharp oversight of the associations 1.3 M budget and financial issues, governance and implementation of objectives as identified in the strategic plan.

Chief operating officer of an 1,800 member 501(c)(6) trade association including one 501(c)(3) educational foundation and one for-profit subsidiary that included a partnership with an insurance brokerage - Interwest. Worked with 37 independent local chapters and strategic partners on the national level. Worked to raise public awareness of the independent automotive repair industry and actively worked with governmental agencies such as the Bureau of Automotive Repair and California Air Resources Board on regulatory issues. Served on the Board of Directors for the National Automotive Service Task Force.
