About Michelle Ferina

Hi, I'm Shelly!Based in Hoboken, NJ, I’m passionate about all things audio, which is why I run sound for shows at LPR, the City of Hoboken, Hellhound Audio, and the South Orange Performing Arts Center! I volunteer at independent radio station WFMU as an assistant board operator and live engineer. While I love live sound engineering, I have a well-rounded background in the music industry! My experience includes studio and field recording, production, artist promotion at record labels, artist hospitality, audio/visual work, and concert photography.I'm a senior at Stevens Institute of Technology completing my B.A. in Music & Technology with a minor in film studies. Throughout my education, I’ve taken on many leadership roles to maximize my professional development, including President of the Audio Engineering Club and Vice President of the Photography Club. As my experience demonstrates, I am highly ambitious and ready to expand my career as soon as I graduate this spring. I’m always open to new opportunities, and I’d love to join your team!

  • (Le) Poisson Rouge
    Event Specialist
(Le) Poisson Rouge May 2024 - Present
New York, New York, United States
I’ve expanded my responsibilities at LPR to beyond just audio; I now contribute in other areas of event support as well! As an Event Specialist, I greet the artists when they arrive with all the items on their rider, which I’ve shopped for, gathered, and prepared in a presentable way. After I set up the green room and make sure the artist has everything they need, I take care of hanging schedules of the run of show around the venue for employee & artist reference, prepare for guest check-in, and correspond over email with anyone that has contacted LPR. During doors, my responsibilities vary: I either check in customers and work ticketing, sell merch, or do seating by directing guests to their tables in the main space.
  • (Le) Poisson Rouge
    Audio Intern
(Le) Poisson Rouge Jun 2023 - Present
New York, New York, United States
As an audio intern and stage manager at LPR, I help set up for live shows, which includes quick set changeovers. In the allotted time, we breakdown the old equipment, set up and mic the new equipment, patching cables accordingly, and helping run the soundcheck. During the performance, I fix any issues that arise, such as swapping out a cable when there is buzz, troubleshooting why a channel isn't getting signal, or tightening the screw of a mic stand clip. Alongside my crew, I work with artists to meet their needs and ensure they are as comfortable as possible. In addition to my primary stagehand role, I shadow and occasionally work on the AVID S6L console that LPR has for mixing monitors and mains, training to become an A2 mixing engineer for the venue.

    Studio Technician
Xanthi Music Productions May 2023 - Present
    Hoboken, New Jersey, United States
Hired by my previous sound recording professor, I work in his studio to help improve its layout and efficiency. We rewired his patch bay and have completed other related projects. I also sit in on studio recording sessions he runs for bands, and occasionally mix these multi-track recordings for him. Outside of the studio, I assist with his other freelance and personal projects, such as running sound for the USA Bands Competition at MetLife, reinstalling and reconfiguring the audio console at Bergen Community College, and engineering Montclair Audio Production Club's Red Dot recording sessions. My work with Rod Shepard has provided me with an abundance of knowledge about analog audio equipment!

Since gaining experience, I’ve also started photography at LPR, where I’ve captured photos of DeVotchka, Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and more. I also shoot local shows in the NYC and Jersey shore areas when I have a connection to a band. For my own enjoyment, I shoot in nature, inspired by the beautiful Pacific Northwest where I grew up.
