APPLICATION ENGINEER / TECHNICAL SERVICE MANAGER / TEST ENGINEER:Over my 10+ year career, I have become an expert in the operation, analysis, and presentation of data on batteries of different chemistries. While my passion and primary focus has been on planning, executing, analyzing, and presenting testing data to key stakeholders both internally and externally, I am also just as comfortable getting my hands dirty in the lab. I grew up building furniture in my family's small business and it gave me a love of working with my hands (well, that and LEGO). I always love a chance to get away from the computer and into the lab. I also find it essential to know how the batteries are built (and how they fail) to fully understand the science behind the battery and relate problems seen in the electrochemistry to physical aspects of the battery to get the entire picture of the cell. I also strongly believe in optimizing processes to make myself and my team more efficient, and have done so throughout my career by bringing on new tools, inventing test apparatuses, or writing software. If you've worked in the clean energy sector as long as I have, when life hands you lemons...

Battery Lab EngineerDaramic, Llc Jan 2016 - Mar 2018Charlotte, North Carolina, UsManaged the day to day activities in the lab including the 100+ battery test circuits. Increased the testing equipment utilization from ~30% to greater than 90%. Developed a shuttle table to test batteries in motion, to better simulate real world conditions. Brought on motive power testing capabilities. Managed a $1MM+ expansion of the lab including bringing on 92 additional testing circuits (nearly doubling capacity). Improved the safety in the lab by bringing on various methods to stop the spread of lead and promote safe handling of heavy batteries. Analyzed testing data, proposed hypotheses to test, and reported results to project leads, senior leadership, and customers as required. -
Test EngineerAmbri Jul 2015 - Sep 2015Marlborough, Ma, Us• Continued to manage the operation and analysis of all electrochemical cells o Focus shifted towards more analysis, presentation of data to team, and training, and less on the installation and maintenance• Wrote MySQL queries and R scripts to automatically update cell performance metrics in a table I created in our database• Updated online database with improvements requested by all users• Implemented and lead the company’s root cause analysis (RCA) program, which united a cross-functional team to solve major issues. One issue resolved from this was a big problem we were having with very high leakage current.• Trained more than 5 people on how to operate the battery cyclers and furnaces• Lead a campaign to optimize and automate the operation of the cells -
Engineering Technician IiAmbri Jan 2014 - Jul 2015Marlborough, Ma, Us• Managed the installation and operation of all electrochemical cells built at the R&D facility - Maintained 80 battery test channels - Wrote the test schedules for the battery cyclers and furnaces - Installed all cells into furnaces and made all voltage, current, and thermocouple connections to the cell - Performed maintenance and troubleshot any problems with battery cyclers, furnaces, software, and wiring (DC and AC)• Analyzed electrochemical data, presented the data to the team, and made changes to test plans based off of the data• Designed a ‘heat cap’ to work with our current furnaces which provided heat to the top of the cell to ensure a negligible thermal gradient -
Engineering TechnicianAmbri Jun 2012 - Jan 2014Marlborough, Ma, Us• Assembled all battery cells• Installed all cells into furnaces, and started them on electrochemical and thermal profiles• Assembled the gas plumbing infrastructure needed to operate cells• Ordered and maintained all gas systems including vacuum roughing pumps -
