A motivational speaker and healthy living advocate, Shemane Nugent is an international Zumba fitness presenter, and the developer of Zumba in the Circuit, which fuses hard-core fitness training with dance. A group fitness instructor for more than 30 years, Shemane has taught Body Pump, Spinning, BoxAerobics, step, Zumba Toning and Zumba Gold. Shemane Nugent has lectured about finding complete body health and staying healthy past age 50, and she has starred in several exercise training videosMrs. Nugent has been passionate about physical activity since childhood. Striving to keep up with her brother’s sports, she won more than 100 ribbons, trophies, and medals for athletics such as swimming and motocross racing. Her interest in activity carried into high school and college, where she participated in cheerleading and gymnastics. While in college, aerobics became the next big thing in exercise, and she soon joined the craze, teaching one of cable TV’s first group exercise classes.Although Mrs. Nugent focused mostly on her career in radio, television, and film for some time, her passion for exercise continued. After being diagnosed with pre-emphysema as a result of being exposed to toxic mold in her home, she was forced to take a break from exercise for close to a year. It was after this that she discovered Zumba and once again began teaching classes and developing courses. Shemane Nugent also now promotes awareness of toxic mold exposure in hopes of preventing others from experiencing what she did.
