As a consulting electrical engineer my responsibility was to lend my expertise in the development of a thin film multi-layer packaging method utilizing biocompatible polymers to encapsulate wireless implantable medical devices. Our NIH funded R&D efforts included collaboration on applying packaging methods and techniques to a wireless bladder pressure monitoring system.R&D was performed to improve deposition of Parylene C, epoxies, and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and their interaction with each other while determining the underlying causes for thin film packaging failure and developing procedures to extend lifetimes of polymeric packaging procedures.
