Led a team of circa 3,000 FTEs and contractors in protecting the company's personnel, assets, facilities, and operations in Brazil and worldwide.• Reduced by 36% the number of hours of downtime due to security incidents on the railroad connecting the states of Maranhão and Pará and brought from BRL 100MM to zero the losses resulting from copper cable theft in the Itabira/MG mines despite a 14% budget cut year on year.• Effectively repelled invasions of environmental compensation areas through highly complex security operations based on a risk matrix and robust ESG protocols, guaranteeing the company's license to operate and protecting its reputation.• Led crisis committees on issues such as railroad interdictions, blockades of access routes, kidnappings of employees, union strikes, and protests by social movements and indigenous peoples.• Liaised with law enforcement and the Brazilian Environmental Agency (IBAMA) to combat illegal mining and protect an area of 1MM hectares of Amazon rainforest as well as critical infrastructure – electricity transmission towers, railroads, bridges, and a port – in the states of Pará and Maranhão.
