I lead MarTech, Account Opening, Decisioning, Onboarding, and Teen Money Checking for Capital One's retail consumer bank. This group of 18 tech teams is responsible for the full customer journey from marketing through onboarding, helping to drive growth levers and prevent account opening fraud.

I led 5–10 full-stack web and mobile engineering teams building features for customers to self-service their bank accounts. My teams worked on the transactions ledger, account management, fraud and disputes, and debit card servicing and platform.We transformed the way Capital One ships customer facing banking features, with Node and Spring Boot microservices, Docker and Kubernetes, serverless, Angular, AWS, agile delivery, streaming data, and continuous deployment at will.We brought design thinking to everything we do, creating experiences that let customers bank seamlessly anytime on any device.

I led a full-stack team building customer facing applications to help people manage their debit cards. Some Java on the API layer, lots of Node.js in between, and Angular on the front end, with automated deployment to AWS. We also wrote shared framework-agnostic components for use across Capital One's various lines of business.Using Node to orchestrate API calls, we launched debit card activation, PIN change, and the first debit card lock/unlock interface of any major bank.

I led Gilt's transition to serving responsive web applications to all devices and screen sizes, monitored and improved front end performance using both RUM and synthetic monitoring, and optimized third party tagging and analytics integrations with an eye toward maintainability and speed.In addition, I cared for core shared libraries, architected new features, wrote documentation, reviewed code, mentored other engineers, sat on Gilt's Architecture Board, and gave the occasional conference or meetup talk.Most recently, I rebuilt Gilt's product search and listing application, adding editorial content capabilities at all responsive viewports and re-architecting the front end into a full MVVM application.

After starting at Gilt, working on some smaller projects, and then building the front end for the now-defunct parkandbond.com, I formed and led the UI Architecture team for over two years. We made user interfaces, internal tools, and front end code for use across all the Gilt sites, and optimized asset deployment and front end performance.We created an application architecture we called LOSA, or Lots of Small Applications, which allowed autonomous independent deployment of tiny web applications tied together by a common set of shared NPM modules containing front end interface components, libraries, and CSS.

As a front end engineer on the Platform Architecture team at Condé Nast Digital, I planned new features and applications for the core publishing platform, consulted during design phases of projects, modified XML schemas, wrote reusable code for use across all the company's sites, and contributed to core JavaScript libraries.I also built JavaScript, CSS and XHTML for new site launches and modifications to existing sites, including glamour.com, self.com, gq.com, golfdigest.com, brides.com and wmagazine.com.

I worked on several ecommerce websites using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, along with managing a small front-end design team.

I wrote the front end code for fisher-price.com, focusing on semantically rich XHTML, elegant CSS, and DOM scripting. I developed standard code and practices for the company, and led the company's multi-year transition from tables to CSS layout. Much of my work focused on shared code libraries for use across multiple brand sites, including the first ajax component on the site.
