My research is centered on critical issues within refugee studies, focusing on the refugee definition, EU asylum law, and the externalization of borders. In addition to these core areas, my broader research interests encompass economic migration, racism, and discrimination in the context of human (im)mobility and Africa’s refugee policy and protection frameworks. My work critically examines the power dynamics between states and how these relations foster unfair, inflexible policies in the migration field. Methodologically, I employ a diverse and robust approach including Qualitative comparative case studies, Quantitative analysis, and Reflexive ethnography.
