As the 2019 NCBA Convention Region I Marketing Ambassador, it is my responsibility to encourage producers to attend the 2019 Convention in New Orleans. The annual convention connects industry leaders for collaboration, innovation and a good time! In this position, I will utilize both my social media and personal network to promote the convention through creative means.

This three-month ambassador program aims to promote the preservation of our public lands by holding Impact Days once a month. On those days, ambassadors and individuals post content to their Instagram pages to display either trash cleanup in their local area or other environmentally-related content. This experience is beneficial to me as an agricultural communicator because it allows me to connect with a wider audience and improve my online marketing and engagement. It is also personally beneficial because it encourages me to reduce my personal waste, get active in my community and dive deeper into the ways agriculture cares for the land.This program recently underwent a change, and now there is no application process to participate as a Wild Keeper. I'm grateful to have been a part of the earlier phases of this program and look forward to seeing it grow.

This summer internship heavily coincided with my career goal of becoming a social media content creator and specialist. Throughout my time with Redline Equipment, I was able to launch a company Instagram account, coordinate community events and complete approximately 30 video projects. In high school I began working at the Morgan Family Enterprises Chick-on-a-Stick concession stand. Over the past several years, this opportunity has allowed me to improve my customer service skills, gain an understanding of food safety at the food preparation level and demonstrate my work ethic. I always enjoy spending my days at the Indiana State Fair working at the cash register to interact with fair-goers and showmen alike.

During the 2018 NCBA Convention and Trade Show I worked as an intern to ensure attendees had a safe and enjoyable experience. In this position I experienced the behind-the-scenes of a large national convention, the production of a Cattlemen to Cattlemen episode and witnessed crisis communication in an event setting. I also exercised my creative skills through videography and the chance to meet with NCBA's social media coordinator. This continues to be a beneficial internship for my professional development.

As a communications intern with the Animal Agriculture Alliance, I had the opportunity to create social media graphics, write blog posts and listen in on conference calls. I greatly enhanced my ability to work independently and create a clear message for an audience. This experience was crucial for my professional development because it was the first time I relocated for a position. I had many unique experiences working in the D.C. area.

I began this position as a sophomore in high school, when I still believed veterinary medicine was my destined path. Through my senior year of high school, I gained skills in time management, punctuality and general teamwork and leadership ideals. My responsibilities included providing basic care for companion animals, but also following prescription labels and sanitation procedures. As I transitioned from high school to college, my role as a kennel assistant changed and I began training new employees as needed. This new aspect of the position allowed me to grow my interpersonal communication skills along with managerial values.

As a summer field technician, I experienced the crop production side of agriculture for the first time. I primarily scouted corn and soybean fields, but also explored new scouting technology for creating accurate field reports. This experience involved a lot of hard work and warm weather, but I learned how to manage my own schedule and become a self-motivator.

For a brief time during my college career, I worked as a sales and shipment employee at Old Navy. In this position I was responsible for unpacking inventory items in a timely manner. Through this experience I learned a lot about maintaining a routine, staying organized and staying on task.
