Initiated and implemented a neighborhood housing market study as a tool for a private/public collaborative development project around a main business corridor; wrote and received $30,000 in matching grants to conduct study and $25,000 for seed money towards the project. Created walkability project to identify safety concerns for students walking/biking to a middle school. GIS data was collected by university students and the middle school students were surveyed for walking routes and perceptions. The data was used with the Community Learning Center at the middle school to create an afterschool mapping and civic engagement class where students discussed data and created a presentation that was given to community members.Hosted dinner roundtables between residents from different age groups to talk about the changing Lincoln landscape and how people were and could be more involved in their community which increased community trust and bridged younger generation engagement. Facilitated neighborhood marketing and branding initiative; convener for residents, marketing analyst, marketing firm and other community leaders that cultivated the identity of an older, lower income neighborhood as a desirable place to live.Established strategic plan that aligned community building with real estate development goals; developed tools to utilize collected GIS data- for example, a neighborhood report card that outlined code violation hot spots with crime reporting.
