I manage all of the Former Tenant accounts held by the other Income Officers on a weekly basis. My role includes trying to make contact with Former Tenants who have left a debt on their rent account, who may have left a credit on their rent account which we need to repay them, or who may have passed away; in which case the account is in either of the above states. I conduct Experian searches on a weekly basis to trace debtors. I attend house meetings on a 6 weekly basis to help make Tenants and staff aware of the importance of following the correct procedure when they relinquish their tenancies to avoid increasing or creating a debt on their rent accounts and the importance of informing the Local Authorities to avoid Housing Benefit overpayments.
