I've been a medical biller for the past six years for six different medical practices: Pediatrics, orthopedics, ophthalmology/optometry, psychiatry, psychology, and family medicine. I have knowledge of medical and surgical terminology and disease process as related to coding/billing with concentration in these areas. Additional skills:• Skilled in analyzing and validating patient information, diagnoses, and billing data with experience in ICD-9 and ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding• Operate databases and medical billing software (CareTracker, Kareo, and eClinicalWorks) • Review and validate accuracy of charges, including dates of service, services provided, location, and patient identification• Accurately enter procedure and diagnosis codes with applicable modifiers and patient information into billing software• Perform charge review, claim edits, payer edits, insurance verification, claim status, claim follow-up, and post insurance and/or patient payments to patient accounts• Prepare and submit claims forms to private insurance companies, Medicaid, Medicare, and other third-party payers; prepare appropriate claim documents• Research and resolve denials and rejections for corrective action within standard billing cycle timeframe; review billing edits and provide insurance companies with correct information• Resolve billing issues identified by insurance carriers and patients• Follow-up with insurance companies and ensure that claims have been received and/or finalized• Identify account discrepancies and issues that hinder claim payments• Respond to staff and client inquiries regarding claim denials and billing related inquiries; work with office staff to ensure proper information was received for claims processing• Uphold and reinforce compliance with office policies and federal regulations such as HIPPA and maintain confidentiality
