Sheridan Smith is a photographer, journalist, and editor based in NYC and California. She is a contributor to the San Fransisco Chronicle, NPPA, and The Borgen Project, and regularly assists assignments for the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and National Geographic.Sheridan graduated from NYU with a self-designed degree in the ethics of visual journalism. She is an industry thought leader, engaging at the forefront of conversations about the unique ethical responsibility of photojournalists at the advent of the AI revolution. Her recent freelance projects have centered on drug trade-related poverty in Buenaventura, post-pandemic overtourism in Barcelona, the resurgence of psychedelic research, and the fentanyl crisis in New York City. She believes in the incredible potential of photography to spark social change. Working in the liminal space between portrayal and reportage, her work presents an inquiry into personhood through the visual form.
