I graduated VCE in 2013 and dived straight into a Bachelor of Criminology and Justice at Navitas College of Public Safety, which I successfully completed in December 2015. In February 2016, I began by first full-time position as a Trainee Junior Legal Assistant within the Workers' Compensation department of Slater and Gordon. I solely managed approximately 90 files. My duties involved liaising with insurance agencies, defendant law firms, clients and barristers, attending the Magistrates Court and the County Court, billing and other general administrative duties. I thoroughly enjoyed my role within Slater and Gordon. In late April 2017, I resigned from Slater and Gordon to spend 4 months travelling with my parents in America and solo around Europe. Upon my arrival home in late August 2017, I began a temporary 6 week position as an Administrative Assistant at Grice Legal. My duties were general clerical tasks including managing incoming phone calls and emails, handling mail, dictaphone transcribing and greeting clients. Upon completion of my six week position, I was offered and accepted a role as a Legal Assistant at Grice Legal working directly with the firms Director, Bill Grice to manage his Family Law files. In January 2018, I returned to Slater and Gordon as a Legal Assistant within the Motor Vehicle Accident department. I thoroughly enjoyed my time working with TAC claims and I am eager to continue this career path in the future.Due to operational changes within Slater and Gordon, I made the difficult decision to move on in 2019 and gained employment as a Legal Assistant within the Public Law and Planning Branch at the Victorian Government Solicitor's Office.During the pandemic, I moved from the Eastern Suburbs to Ocean Grove (a wonderful decision) and with that, came a job change in June 2021. I commenced employment as Legal Assistant at Stary Norton Halphen (Leading Criminal Law Specialists). It has been an eye-opening experience to say the least.I hope to continue to gain knowledge and experience in various areas of law. I am eager to progress my career and utilise the skills and knowledge I learnt during my Bachelor of Criminology and Justice and pursue my career as a highly regarded legal assistant.
