Senior Reservoir Engineer

Current

Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Teine Energy acquired Chauvin Asset from Repsol Canada.Senior Exploitation Engineer responsible for all of Chauvin asset (~950 producers and ~350 injectors). Heavy oil field (API: 15-20) producing ~8100 bopd. Production was increased from 6600 in 2022 to 8100 in 2024. Details of examples where I partaked in this success are listed below• Applied for first time in WCSB the concept of cyclical water flooding that increased production in various parts of Chauvin by 5-15%.• Optimized waterflood patterns through classical reservoir engineering analyses increasing oil production by 10-15%.• Built a waterflood dashboard that combines data from Geoscout, PVR as well as surveillance data to aid in waterflood optimization.• Identified areas where further injection can increase oil production. Put together monitoring program for those areas to capture changes in submergence post injection changes and execute speedups. Those pump speed ups added 600 bopd of incremental production.• Identified producers’ stimulation opportunities (with 100 bopd uplift) to remove scale, wax or asphaltene. Identification was based on calculating theoretical productivity index and comparing it to actual values. • Improved a mature field production by 15% through mapping water cut in the field, adjusting targets to sweep oil from the edges of low water cut parts in the reservoir while speeding up producers there.• Generated production forecast and AFE economics for various gas and oil wells re-activation candidates.• Carried out reservoir pressure survey analyses and submitted all the required regulatory files and applications such as D65, O38, initial pressure survey and annual pressure survey tests.

Senior Reservoir Engineer

Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Moved to Teine Energy due to Chauvin asset acquisition by TeineSenior Reservoir Engineer responsible for ~450 producers and ~180 injectors in a heavy oil field (API: 15-20). The total field production is ~6600 bopd.• Optimized waterflood patterns through analyses such as (Voidage Replacement Ratio calculations, WOR vs Cumulative Oil Produced and Fluid Rate vs Water Cut trends) increasing oil production by 10-15%.• Modelled inflow performance relationships for stacked zones of varying quality to guide Artificial Lift upgrade pump selection. Post upgrade, the wells produced successfully within 10% of the modeled rates.• Built GAP models to model injectors equipped with Inflow Control Valves (ICVs) to continuously compare actual injection with model rates and pinpoint when valves need to be replaced when performance deviates.• Built several PROSPER models to identify drop in productivity/injectivity to build business case for stimulation/well cleanout.• Continuously monitored producers’ submergence post water injection target changes to identify speed ups. Those pump speed ups added 600 bopd of incremental production.• Strategy definition, planning and execution of data gathering & surveillance plan to optimize field production and injection (ex: fall off tests, multi rate testing, injection logging surveys, fluid shots)• Completed and submitted regulatory applications (ex: D65) and annual reports (pressure surveys, MWHIP, Waterflood Management) to Alberta Energy Regulator to support field development.

Feb 2021 - Nov 2021

Senior Petroleum Engineer

Left due to immigration to Canada• Provided leadership and technical expertise to the national staff focusing on classic Petroleum Engineering, Surveillance and Field Management.• Designed and planned scale inhibition squeeze jobs to protect base production of ca. 15,000 bopd.• Generated Purchase Requests for downhole pressure gauges and Echometers using Maximo, followed up on purchase orders status with Procurement department. • Led rigless intervention campaigns that increased production by 5000 bopd to arrest field decline. This included writing down/ reviewing work procedures, planning pre-requisite wireline gauging or Xmas tree repair to have sufficient barriers. This also included coordinating with service companies and finally ensuring no conflict with simultaneous operations on the platform.• Worked with well integrity team to execute interventions such as bullheading kill fluid, repairing xmas trees and running PX plugs that set in downhole nipples. This resulted in reducing high risk wells from 15 to 5. • Shared experience and trained national staff in using IPM nodal analysis software. The national staff then implemented with my assistance the software to optimize gas lift in certain fields increasing production by ~ 1000 bopd.• Led multi-disciplinary team to investigate several over pressure incidents in process facility. Lessons learnt were identified and communicated to the operations team to prevent them from re-occurring.• Project manager of Water injection wells rehabilitation project. Many injection wells had dysfunctional turbine flow meters as well as stuck header or Xmas tree valves, therefore actual injection rates was unknown which was bad for water flood management. Coordinated with different teams’ execution of turbine flow meter repair scope and Xmas tree repair scope for the injection wells. One of the key platforms was found to be over injecting by 30k bwpd; this was resolved shortly after.

Senior Reservoir Engineer

Bp

Bp Secondee - Gupco, Cairo

• Conducting quarterly forecasts, tracking planned and unplanned losses from wells, gas lift compressors, pipelines and process facility.• Built an in-house production dashboard for surveillance and monitoring using Power BI, instead of using a third party software saving $100k for the company.• Responsible for Reservoir Management for a 150 mmstb oil field. An infill well was in the field development plan and I was tasked with assuring its proposed value. By building a history matched reservoir simulation model, various predictions were run that cover the range of subsurface uncertainties. Predictions showed that the infill well value is less than previously proposed and is sub-economic. The well was cancelled saving $20 mm for the company. • Increased production by 2000 barrels of oil per day (bopd) through proposing new perforations and re-perforations in existing producers. Selection of perforation zones was based on reviewing offset wells performance and running reservoir saturation logs or production logs.• Identified candidates for Bright water polymer flooding in injectors to add 1 mmstb of reserves, which is above the economic cutoff for project. Through identifying reservoirs with non-uniform sweep of water injection laterally, evidence for non-uniform sweep was from analyses of production and saturation logs.• Added 2 mmstb reserves by waterflood optimization, this included proposing well conversions and new perforations in injection wells.• Delivered work objectives efficiently by working with multidisciplinary teams to put field development plans.• Conducted and assured reservoir engineering elements at the different stage gates for new well delivery and workover opportunities.• Provided guidance and mentorship to GUPCO engineers and conveyed BP standards and practices

End Reservoir Development

• Responsible for field development for a 2 Tcf gas field. Main highlights include:o Optimization of well count taking into consideration ultimate recovery factor and field economics was done by integrated asset modelling. Influenced partner operating the field to reduce well count in their field development plan by two wells by presenting the integrated asset model results, thus saving $25M and reaching a win-win situation with the partner.o Alleviated uncertainty of field compartmentalization by planning an interference well test, convincing the partner to carry it out and analyzing it proving that the reservoir is not compartmentalized. This supported the case for fewer wells needed for field development.• Prepared and presented annual resource reviews for five gas fields to defend resources positions (compliant with SEC regulations) to central reserves audit team.• Engineered development concepts for new exploration prospects. Integrated asset model was used for profile generation to support preliminary commercial evaluation.• Contributed to Zohr giant gas field Reservoir study through analyzing data and reports.• History-matched simulation model of gas field using Nexus.
