Barkley Court Reporters & Trial TechnologiesMy responsibilities include generating new business and sustaining relationships with litigation law firms. Imeet with attorneys and their staff members, assisting them with their litigation support issues. I consultwith them on their specific firm needs relating to depositions, trial preparation and technology, documentmanagement systems, continuing legal education, etc. I handle problem resolution when things do not go asplanned. I also plan and coordinate luncheons, dinners and California State Bar approved MCLE seminars.

Responsibilities included the day to day operations of the international headquarters of a non-profitorganization that sends approximately 3,000 students abroad each summer to participate in volunteer workprograms and adventure tours. My USA office staff numbered 15 and international staff numbers varied bythe season. My duties included the hiring and supervision of all USA office staff, international recruitingand sales efforts, marketing and public relations, business and growth planning, legal and insurance matters.I served as a university liaison and attended conferences and trade shows relating to education abroadprograms, volunteer work programs and student travel. I addressed conferences of students and educatorsabout global volunteer efforts and the benefits of volunteering. I led weekly pre-departure orientationmeetings for participants during the summer months, speaking to audiences of 300 or more. I wasresponsible for the company website content as well as the writing and editing of promotional letters,emails, brochures and other company documentation and processing materials.

I assisted in establishing and managing this law practice for over 20 years, including the writing andpreparation of legal documents, legal research and trial preparation. I handled AR/AP and trust accounts,planned and executed many special events, assisted in creating marketing materials and strategies. I hiredand supervised a staff of 8 to 10, negotiated office leases, researched and purchased office equipment. In1992, the law firm began to emphasize estate planning. I interviewed and assisted high net worth clients inthe planning and preparation of their estate planning documents, including the formation of familyfoundations and charitable remainder trusts.
