Penumbra Inc (May 2021 – Jul 2021)Data Integration ConsultantProject scope was to redesign the semantic layer to merge historical ERP system data with new SAP S4 HANA data for consumption by Tableau dashboards and reports.• Prepared detailed documentation mapping the existing semantic layer with corresponding fields from SAP S4 HANA.• Built complex views and SQL functions in Azure SQL database to consolidate SAP data with the same structure and level of granularity as the existing semantic layer.• Data was loaded into SQL Azure database from SAP and existing ERP system with Azure Data Factory pipelines, using a parameter-driven approach that provides flexibility, optimal performance, and ease of maintenance.• Worked with Tableau development team to validate data and resolve issues raised during testing.Environment: Azure, SQL Server, Tableau, QAD, SAP S4 HANA

I joined the company just as it was implementing SAP S4 HANA and rebuilding the enterprise data warehouse on the SAP HANA platform. At the time, I had no experience with SAP, ETL tools, or dimensional modeling. I quickly learned all of these skills through hands-on experience. I designed new tables and table changes that adhered to standards and enabled efficient data access. I designed and coded ETL programs using SAP Data Services to load data from SAP and other sources into the data warehouse. I developed HANA views that provided end-user data access through Business Objects and SAP Analytics Cloud dashboards. And I became a data detective, resolving data quality issues by tracing the flow of data and identifying the root cause of the issue.
