NJEDge.Net November 2000 – June 2017NJEDge.Net, New Jersey’s State Research and Education Network, collocated on the campus of the NJ Institute of Technology, is a 501(c)(3) dedicated to supporting the educational, research and public service missions of all New Jersey higher education institutions. Initially hired as an educational technologist (collaborating with faculty at over 50 NJ institutions to integrate technology into learning and teaching), I was recognized for developing and launching a strategic community engagement initiative, receiving promotions several times, culminating in Vice President of Academic Engagement. Vice President, Academic Technology and Community Engagement (January 2013 - June 2017)Functioned as chief of staff for senior staff and Board of Trustees.Selected Accomplishments:• Instituted order to the Board of Trustee meetings by instituting a formal, consistent agenda and minutes; BoT retreats; • Organized senior staff professional development • Coordinated the merger of the Virtual Academic Library Environment of NJ(NJ’s academic libraries) within NJEDge.Net. • Created state-wide higher education network security group.

Director, Educational Technology Initiatives (July 2010 – December 2012)Created and maintained community for the consortium. Directed the activities for EDge.Networks, the affinity groups consisting of volunteers.Selected Accomplishments:• Developed a marketing plan for NJEDge.Net.• Wrote and developed the first NJEDge Annual Report.• Formalized the volunteer leadership for the NJEDge affinity groups.• Post Superstorm Sandy, I initiated a debrief and evaluation of preparation and response efforts amongst network managers and CIOs across the state of New Jersey, which identified common challenges surrounding disaster recovery and business continuity efforts related to administrative and academic components of high education institutors.

Assistant Director of Educational Technologies and Administration (July 2007 – June 2010)Active senior team member for the implementation and maintenance of the higher education network infrastructure supplying the NJ community with internet and a virtual private network .Selected Accomplishments:• Won a grant from Verizon FIOS to coordinate the state community colleges as a support sites for PEG (Public, Education, Government Access) Channel Programming.• Won grant with William Paterson and Rutgers Universities from the Institute of Museum and Library Services to create a state-wide repository (NJVid.Net) for digital video using Shibboleth Authentication.• Created and ran the NJEDge Affiliate Vendor Program. Brought in $50k annual in vendor support for academic and community programming.• Took control of the front office operations for NJEDge.Net, providing oversight and daily management.

Educational Technologist (November 2000 – June 2007)Collaborated with faculty at over 50 NJ institutions to integrate technology into learning and teaching. Coordinated the online teaching and learning efforts of New Jersey’s Colleges and Universities for the New Jersey Virtual University. Organize faculty development programs for New Jersey Higher Education. Selected Accomplishments:• Inducted into the Association for Computing Machinery, Special Interests Groups: University & Computing Services “Hall of Fame.”• Developed statewide affinity workgroups on issues in technology and higher education.• Oversaw the creation of the NJEDge website.• Created and implemented the state-wide annual conference on issues in integrating technology into the missions of higher education institutions.• Organized a k20 working group on common technology issues in education.

Manager of Instructional Technology (December 1997 – October 2000) University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey Hired to develop a distance-learning program at University, integrate technology into the classroom learning experience, and administer grants program. Selected Accomplishments: • Instrumental in creating “mini” med school for regular adults, an executive style program, with more than 500 participants, often oversold. • Designed and implemented a transition of text-based content to multi-media for five medical school programs and half dozen for health programs, enabling students and staff to more easily access university content. • Honored with University Excellence and Dean Citation awards for creating multimedia course materials for the School of Health Related Professions.

Independent Consultant (July 1995 – October 2000)Worked with clients to develop and implement academic technology strategic plans. Selected Accomplishments:• Created technology curriculum for corporate clients to increase the skills of their employees.• Developed curriculum and taught computing skills to impaired adults for state agencies.• Developed vision and objectives, curriculum, networking specifications for private K-12 school client.

Director, Academic Computing (October 1992 - August 1995) New School for Social ResearchAdvised President, Officers, and Trustees on matters of technology. Headed technology master plan. Built new computing facilities networked buildings. Supervised computing labs, classrooms, telecommunications, education and end user support. Provided NSSR community with access to electronic resources.Selected Accomplishments:• To reduce costs and create efficiencies, I authored a strategic plan to demonstrate the benefits of modernizing and standardizing disparate and antiquated infrastructure at a large university’s various locations throughout the city. The Board of Trustees invested $10M to rebuild a common infrastructure of networking, systems and data across the entire university.

Responsible for development and implementation of strategic computing plan to support overall college mission. Formulated restructured computing organization combining academic, administrative and library computing. Ensured that the ECC budget and other sources of funding are effectively prepared, proposed and utilized. Supervised associate directors who are responsible for central and departmental labs, mainframe installation, telecommunications, campus LANs and end user support. Member of development team for the infrastructure of the Baruch College Library and Technology Center.
