Challenged to create a new department responsible for aligning key change agents with Penn Mutual Strategic priorities. My initial goal for the department goal was to create visibility and clarity of the strategy, allowing for focused delivery. Led change agents from the previous expectations of their roles and energized them to take ownership and accountability of the strategic priority successes. This change in mindset required continuous reinforcement and support of emotions, processes and technical skills. Team reputation for delivering results and increased requests for them to join efforts have significantly increased over the 4 years the team has been evolving.Sample Strategic Successes ACE Program: The first agile approach to a program at Penn Mutual. This was a labor of love that I poured myself into, as did the Business Transformation team (more than half of the team was devoted to this effort). The teams were able to deliver the first iteration of ACE in less than 14 months. Operational Programs: Created a forum for visibility and clarity of the priorities related to the operational areas. This program has allowed the teams to remain focused on the highest priority work that can evolve the operational capabilities. Examples: Informals through ACE, Centralization of NB processing, continuous enhancements to automated underwriting, continued enhancements to InSight platform. Product Implementation Program: Created the Product Forum to allow for cross team and cross functional understanding of the products currently in development. Forum has enabled teams to self organize around the work, allowing for increased productivity. New QA Model: Implemented a new capability model of quality assujrance which has immediately proven valuable and successful. While the initial intent was to improve quality, the byproduct of the model has created an environment where associates feel empowered and respected.
