Research Title: Investigating the Anti-Neuroinflammatory Actions of Leukemia Inhibitory Factor (LIF) in a Mouse Model Of Mild Traumatic Brain InjuryResearch intern investigating if Leukemia Inhibitory Factor (LIF) given to mice after Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) would effectively prevent tissue inflammation. The goal is to develop an efficient treatment that can help patients after Traumatic Brain Injury, reducing brain damage and death. This is a two-year research project and a continuation of the first-year project. Most of my research was conducted in a laboratory setting where I briefly learned how to use different tools such as an Olympus AX-70 epifluorescence microscope, Fiji Software, IVision Studio Software, and a mouse brain atlas to help guide me in my analysis. Officially published as a co-author in the national scientific journal, Neurotrauma reports on a paper called “Intranasal Leukemia Inhibitory Factor Attenuates Gliosis and Axonal Injury and Improves Sensorimotor Function After a Mild Pediatric Traumatic Brain Injury”
