I am a museum administrator, educator and coordinator in the education department of the only AAM accredited academic art museum in Oregon, The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art. I manage all of the K-12 programming, our volunteer docent corps. of Exhibition Interpreters, as well as professional development for educators, education exhibitions, community focused educational supports, and internship supervision and support. I am a Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) Facilitator and Coach, training both students and docents in this deep looking and interactive methodology, creating space for increased critical thinking and equity in the classroom through art literacy. As a content developer, I contributed to a collaborative grant between the UO College of Ed & the JSMA in a US Dept. of Education grant bringing VTS and argument writing skills to rural teachers in Oregon and to other educators across the US, with our online resources.My work is currently focused on breaking down the colonial structure of museums by supporting the JSMA's mission of advancing in a just and equitable way. We are doing this work by paying attention and including work by artists who have been historically excluded and by making museums accessible and welcoming to marginalized populations in all of our educational programming.In order to learn and connect in our work and lives, I continue my membership and collaboration with local community programs supporting racial justice as well as the UO's DEI Strategies and Working Group, Deconstructing Whiteness.Past Experience I have 7 years of experience in the biotechnology and medical device industry and 10 years preparing informative meetings and courses along with training, coaching and demonstrating many of the applications I have supported.Upon graduating with honors and receiving an academic achievement award in 2011, I am a certifiedveterinary technician with experience in veterinary surgery, internal medicine and in allergy and dermatology for small animals.
