Responsible for prosecution and/or managing outside counsel with respect to the prosecution of patents. Negotiated commercial, joint development, joint venture, divestment, and settlement agreements. Handled defense and resolution of 11 third party IP assertions against Philips or its customers. Negotiated several licensing-out deals leading to royalty income for businesses I support. Supported patent oppositions and appeals before the EPO.Over my tenure at Philips, I have supported a variety of businesses with technologies ranging from consumer products, wearables, apps, blockchain, artificial intelligence, medical imaging, genomics, digital pathology, interventional oncology, and radiation oncology to neurology. As part of Philips IP Academy, co-taught IP law courses at Renmin University and Tsinghua University in Beijing, and coached students in a moot court competition at Fudan University in Shanghai.

Prepared and prosecuted patent applications for technologies including liquid crystal displays, transistors, graphics processors, solid state memories, optical storage, analog and digital circuits, telecommunications, software, mechanical devices, and medical devices. Performed due diligence and conducted infringement analyses. Drafted license agreements. Identified and mapped patents to technical specifications for patent pools.

Served as a law clerk extern for the Honorable Arthur J. Gajarsa at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Assisted in research, analysis, and writing of opinions.

Developed and characterized Silicon-On-Insulator (SOI) transistors, diodes, resistors, capacitors, SRAM, and other silicon devices at the IBM Semiconductor Research and Development Center (SRDC) as part of the SOI Device Design & Characterization group for the 120nm, 90nm, and 65nm nodes. Designed fabrication experiments and analyzed the test data gathered from the experiments. Developed a diode for temperature sensing, which was patented (U.S. Pat. No. 7,227,204), and co-authored several IEEE papers. Collaborated with device modelers (PSPICE), design manual authors regarding device layout specifications, mask designers, failure analysis engineers, and integrators.
