I am an RN with 27 years of experience with the last 21 years in the hospice industry. Over my time in the hospice industry, I advanced from a nurse in the field to management and ultimately into regulatory compliance at the regional level. I have provided leadership, education, and training to hospice clinicians and clinical managers. I have worked collaboratively with all members of the hospice team to assure clinical and regulatory documentation was complete and consistent with care and reflected compliance with hospice Conditions of Participation. Through agency education and preparation, I was able to consistently improve deficiencies received for accreditation surveys from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and other accreditation agencies such as the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC).During the pandemic, I was laid off from my position at a large hospice company and subsequently was fortunate enough to be hired as an associate consultant for Weatherbee Resources, a prominent hospice consulting service. While consulting for Weatherbee I pursued online education through the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and in March of 2023 I earned my medical coding credential as a certified professional coder (CPC-A). Currently, I am searching for the right opportunity in the hospice industry, primarily in compliance, but I remain open to any suitable hospice management position.
