Sheryl Cates is a visionary for building communities, collaborations and partnerships. She has accomplished numerous achievements and gained valuable experience in non-profit leadership at local, state and national levels. For 15 years, Sheryl was the CEO of the National Domestic Violence Hotline, Loveisrespect.org National Teen Dating Abuse Helpline and the Texas Council on Family Violence. Prior to this, Sheryl was the Executive Director of Women’s Protective Services of Lubbock, Inc. for 10 years serving Lubbock and the surrounding 11 counties. She is a nationally recognized speaker and has been prominently featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show, ABC’s Prime Time, Fox News Fox and Friends, Larry King Live, ABC Good Morning America, Dr. Phil Show, the Queen Latifah Show, the John Walsh Show, CBS Saturday Early Show, The Montel Williams Show, and The Catherine Crier Show, and Court TV. Sheryl has a BA from Texas Tech, Leadership Lubbock and Leadership Texas graduate, served on boards and as a member of a number of community service organizations. Sheryl was appointed by President George W. Bush to the National Council on Violence against Women, and is a founding member of MADE (Moms and Dads for Education to Stop Teen Dating Abuse). She has served on the Advisory Board to the Corporate Alliance to End Partner Violence, American Bar Association/Commission on Domestic Violence, National Advisory Committee on Violence against Women, WomensLaw.org, Allstate Foundation’s Domestic Violence Program, National Network to End Domestic Violence, and Cut-it-Out, the National Salon Professionals Association, Texas Governor’s Commission for Women, and the Council for Crime Victims for the Texas Office of the Attorney General.
