• Manage all legal and compliance functions in APAC, including providing strategic advice on employment matters, assisting in internal compliance and FCPA investigations, overseeing due diligence processes, reviewing / negotiating contracts, setting up foreign subsidiaries, implementing global policies, and updating global contract templates, GDPR policies across APAC. • Oversee enforcement programs in APAC, including meeting revenue targets, managing fiscal budgets, and preparing annual operational plans for board approval.• Work with external counsel and country managers to restructure existing programs to drive revenue and achieve greater operational efficiencies.• Develop strategies for guiding and resolving litigation and pre-litigation disputes in APAC enforcement programs. • Lead negotiations in key disputes involving the IP rights of BSA members, with a view to reaching a commercially sensible resolution. • Work closely with the APAC marketing team and external partners to provide legal, strategic, and creative input on all publicity matters across all markets, including media engagement and end-user campaigns.• Conduct legal review of all marketing literature, including digital publications, social media posts, and public education / information campaigns.• Manage involvement and budgets of external counsel across APAC, including negotiating fee arrangements, and assessing counsel performance with a view to optimising ROIs.• Onboarding new staff on global policies and internal compliance processes. • Manage inter-departmental projects, including assessing country specific IP legislation, enforcement practice and market access on behalf of BSA member companies in order to prepare BSA’s input to USTR on Special 301 submissions. • Conduct training in the region for national and local authorities on IP protection and enforcement mechanisms.

Assisted in, among other things:• Acting for and advising an oil & gas conglomerate on the consequences of terminating its main contractor which was potentially insolvent and involved in a construction project worth about S$500 million, and the validity of the contractor’s scheme of arrangement • Acting for high net-worth individuals in accelerated court proceedings relating to disputes involving a family trust of about S$25 million• Advising and acting for a sub-contractor in arbitration and adjudication proceedings relating to a mixed development projection valued at about S$800 million • Advising the board of a Singapore listed medical group on the consequences of breaching a sale and purchase agreement with a Hong Kong listed medical group for shares and convertible notes in a Chinese corporation worth about S$146.5 million • Advising a prominent retail development group on the results of an internal audit revealing potential corruption between a former employee and an external vendor, related CPIB investigations, and acting for the group in settlement negotiations with said vendor• Advising a leading Japanese builder about potential liabilities under a side letter to a complex suite of agreements for the construction of a data storage facility • Advising and acting for various local companies in shareholder disputes with claims relating to potential breaches of director’s duties • Advisory and corporate work relating to, among other things, public sector agreements, employment matters, and tender processes in large scale construction projects.• Assisting in a wide range of litigation and arbitration matters relating to commercial disputes, the construction industry, and adjudications under the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act.
