The Family Readiness Program, as part of the US Army, is a program designed to keep soldiers and families informed in the current high operational tempo. Families that are involved and educated are more likely to be thrive throughout their soldier's career, enabling the Army as a whole to be more successful. Since 9-11 these programs have grown and morphed, and continue to do so. I have been a part of these programs since their onset. I currently voluntarily advise and mentor 8 Battalion Family Readiness Advisors in a 2,500+ person Aviation Brigade. Utilizing knowledge of Army regulations, and working with senior community leadership, I perform analysis and evaluation of family programs and develop plans for areas in need of improvement. Our goal is to keep our families informed and educated in order to provide them the best experience possible during their time serving in the Army. I work with community agencies to determine what types of training classes are required and have worked to ensure all available marketing tools are used to share the multitude of resources available to our Army families.

Syracuse, New York Area

The Defense Programs is an executive education program that is part of the Martin J. Whitman School of Business at Syracuse University. In my position, I coordinated the administration of the classes. I worked with the Army liaison responsible for scheduling students numbering about 300 per year. I was responsible for preparing their class registrations using Qualtrics, developing course materials, as well as all required concierge services while staying in the Syracuse area. I also provided general administrative support to the Program Directors. Our customer satisfaction ratings were very high, scoring on average 97-99% after every class session.

Ansbach, Bavaria, Germany

At the battalion level, I volunteered an average of 20 or more hours each week managing and mentoring 12 Family Readiness Group (FRG) Leaders. I worked hand in hand with them to resolve conflict among the team, as well as assist with rectifying family member issues. I coordinated training for the leaders ensuring they had the latest tools in their kit to grow their programs. I developed, planned and budgeted for several large scale events for our 600+ person organization. The largest being a formal military ball which involved major fundraising efforts, the designing of decor, entertainment and an extensive dinner. In addition, I planned quarterly volunteer recognitions, which culminated in an annual event recognizing all key volunteers with a meal and award. At the end of my tenure, things had seen a marked improvement; morale was very high, our Family Readiness Group Leaders had successful, vibrant programs, and the overall impression of our Battalion by the soldiers and their families was pride to be a part of a top notch unit.

Fort Bragg, Nc; Fort Campbell, Ky; Fort Drum, Ny

In my volunteer position as Family Readiness Group Leader with several different units, I organized, led and inspired Army families to thrive throughout a face paced, challenging time for the US Army by providing them with the tools, education and skills to become ready and resilient. I gathered, researched and disseminated pertinent and valuable information to keep Army families well informed, both in times of peace and war. I held events designed to keep our families engaged, each with the purpose of bringing people together and fostering relationships. I provided support to families in their own personal times of tragedy, and celebrated when the situation called for it. Even during very challenging and frightening times such as the initial invasion into Iraq in 2003, I worked tirelessly to ensure our spouses were aware of all resources available to them. Participation increased greatly, unit morale was high, and family issues were decreased. Overall, the programs were a huge success. Our families were informed and involved.

Central Carolina Hospital is a midsize hospital in the Tenet Healthcare network. In my position, I prepared monthly Financial Statements, maintained the General Ledger and assisted the Controller with special projects. I worked closely with Accounts Payable and the Materials Department to ensure the accurate management of hospital inventory.

Clarksville, Tn

Tilecera, Inc. (now Florim USA) is a manufacturer of ceramic and porcelain tiles. During my time there I prepared consolidated Financial Statements as well as analyzed and reconciled General Ledger accounts. I performed quarterly audits of our 2 subsidiaries. I supervised the Accounts Payable clerk. I worked closely with the Controller on the dissolution of a partnership and subsidiary and other legal matters. I also maintained all business insurance records.

Enterprise, Al

At this midsize CPA firm, I performed year end audits, compilations and reviews for organizations ranging from city governments to school districts. I was responsible for accurate and timely reporting. I also prepared income tax returns for corporations, partnerships and individuals. In this position, I interacted directly with a diverse group of clients.

Richmond, Va

Molins Richmond, Inc. is an international manufacturer of tobacco machinery. As Senior Accountant, I prepared monthly and year end Financial Statements. I maintained and reconciled the General Ledger. I worked directly with our shipping department to ensure customers were invoiced in a timely manner. As such, I was able to work directly with major tobacco companies to resolve accounting related issues. In addition, I developed and presented a company wide MRPII manufacturing software training program to over 120 employees with the end result being a more seamless flow of operations.
