My name is Sheryl Menkes and I’m an attorney and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) professional. I’m based in Manhattan, and I have more than two decades of experience helping people with nursing home abuse and personal injury cases. I stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves. I’m an active member of the New York Bar Association's Elder Law Committee as well as the New York Nursing Home Litigation Group.My passion for the law comes from personal experience: My own mother entered a nursing home for what was to be a short-term rehabilitation. My mother suffered from dementia and was difficult to work with – and the staff simply walked away and left her. No one contacted me to alert me, and as a direct result my mother passed away before her time.I want to make sure that never happens to anyone else. I graduated Brooklyn Law School with the knowledge needed to make a difference in people’s lives, and I have dedicated myself to using that power to help others.
