Evaluation of foreign (primarily english based) information security products as candidates for inclusion in our security product portfolio. This includes both hardware and software from OEM's to be integrated with current or future products. This is under the Canon Electronics product portfolio, independent of Canon Marketing Japan (CMJ) or Canon IT Solutions (CITS) which represents the whole Canon group, though some offerings are additionally distributed through CMJ/CITS.Additionally, I assist internal software developers with information gathering and advice, some english language assistance when dealing with foreign vendors, product strategic planning and architecture, and some QA work (mostly how would I break X). As time permits, general information gathering on industry trends as well as new technology/service fronts that may be business opportunites.I also periodically get press-ganged into IT activities, such as network and VMware ESXi virtualization support for the primary company internal IT systems, and assisting with managing the space technology research laboratory's independent network and ESXi servers. I am also solely operating a shadow IT department managing a development network and a VM Hadoop cluster.
