You are not your career. Permission has been overrated. When your capability is base on how well you follow instructions and performs in your comfort zone, this is how you become a commodity. 🤷♂️🤷♀️The time when you were rewarded for compliance, you conformed to the standards. The time when you were rewarded for obedience, you were obedient by conventions. The time when you were rewarded for competence, you were competent behaviorally by appraisal.Conventional expectations are notional, they show us where we are in this premise and we actually believe them. The believers prefer to see you fail to prove that conventional wisdom is right. But occasionally, a few will get curious and start asking the right questions when you least expect it Your ability for you to follow instructions is no longer the secret to your success. We have been conditioned on how to play safe rather than where to play. Opportunists do not wait for the right time and place to embark on their quest to break through that conventions. If you’ve read this far, I guess it's also good for you to know that i own several businesses and help local companies deal with financing challenges of varying sizes and complexities. I'm also a financial services director in RTP Organization (Representing AIA Singapore) who specialises in leadership training for 24 years. But that's just one dimension of me. Most part of me prefers to see you revel in your success. By your definition. Please know that there are ideas unborn out of you. Expectations in you that is unmet. Culture is a choice and we don’t have to live in it for fear of being the outlier. The outliers don’t believe in a mundane life. They are those who constantly break through the norm and improve things even when nothing is broken. Just know that it’s absolutely possible that there won’t be a standing ovation at the end of your journey. And that shouldn't stop you from revealing your best work and best self for us. 💪Don't waste it.🙌🙌
