IFF lends to initiatives in urban health care, education and employment in order to make a positive social impact in 5 Midwest states.Shikha completed her summer internship at IFF while she was working towards her MBA. Her initiative for the summer was to encourage grocers to enter low-income neighborhoods in an effort to improve food access and healthy options to the communities. To achieve this, she probed into the food supply chain from growing to retail to identify areas for opportunity. She conducted interviews of stakeholders in the grocery ecosystem to assess profitability drivers. She supplemented her 1:1 interviews with surveys that she created, programmed, launched and analyzed to identify financial and operational incentives for grocers to enter low-income neighborhoods. To conclude her internship, she presented her findings to the IFF senior management and recommended a $40MM investment strategy for the initiative.

Green Infra Ltd is backed by IDFC Private Equity funds focused on actively investing, developing and operating clean and renewable energy assets in India specifically within wind, solar, hydro and biomass with a goal of becoming the leading clean energy independent power producer in the country. As a Summer Associate at Green Infra Ltd, Shikha conducted due diligence for potential targets in the pipeline through a combination of financial modeling incorporating scenario analyses for different market outcomes. She collaborated with the team and recommended 80MW (megawatts) of acquisition opportunities worth $20MM that were approved by the investment committee.She also modeled the projected revenue and profitability of the current portfolio of MW which were approved by the COO and Board of Directors. Additionally, she co-authored an article outlining India's energy efficiency potential and how Green Infra Limited's investment strategy will contribute towards that objective.

The Climate Project - India is a nonprofit focused on generating awareness about climate change in the country and globally. As a Consultant, Shikha led a team of 6 over a period of 3 months to conceptualize, plan and execute India’s inaugural Green Jobs Fair which showcased 30 organizations as potential employers to over 2,000 visitors over a span of 3 days. The Green Jobs Fair also received over 30 pieces of multi-media coverage. For the Fair, she created a two-sided marketing strategy to persuade employers to participate in and attract job-seekers to the Fair.She also collaborated on a “Green Accounting” report that encouraged Indian companies to adopt sustainable practices in the long-run.

JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. in Toronto, CanadaFrom April 2008 to March 2009, Shikha worked the Global Credit Risk Management team in the Toronto division for the group. During her time there, she structured and executed 6 new credit deals using a combination of financial analyses and market due diligence to assess the potential risk exposure to the bank's balance sheet. One of the new executed deals was for the creation of a $10B credit facility for a large mining and metals company to acquire a 100% stake in its partially owned subsidiary.Additionally, she covered a portfolio of $15B that spanned multiple sectors including mining & metals, oil & gas, telecom, power, aerospace and public education sectors and assessed the risk associated with 30 transactions with the objective to safeguard the bank's balance sheet exposureJPMorgan Securities Inc, New York, NYFrom July 2007 to April 2008, Shikha was part of the Financial Institutions and Governments team within the Investment Bank. She primarily covered securities exchanges and insurance clients. During her role as an Analyst, she analyzed 3 potential acquirers for a mercantile exchange and built M&A model as part of an $9B transaction which was ultimately completed in first quarter of 2008. Other deals she worked on was a complex Initial Public Offering (IPO) valuation pitch for a $100M reinsurance company. She also negotiated the term sheet for a catastrophe bond with the client team and legal advisory and finalized the investor presentations which were handed over to the Sales team for the roadshow.
