The Connect (eBanking) program of work is the initiative to rebuild the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank’s eBanking platform and deploy re-designed customer access layers across each of mobile smartphone and tablet devices.Over the two-year engagement, Shikhar managed the program office and was fundamental in transforming this program from a single release waterfall project into a complex, multi-stream monthly customer release program based on Scaled Agile Framework. He designed and delivered the dynamic multi-release program framework predicated on Agile (Scrum) delivery principles that successfully delivered five monthly releases between September 2014 and March 2015 which resulted in uptake of Bank’s eBanking service.Shikhar managed the $40M program budget, ensuring the accuracy of program financial management and reporting to meet organisational, governance and change control requirements. The program required multiple organisational functions to provide resources for successful delivery. He captured and harnessed these multiple streams by facilitating/negotiating dedicated resources with line managers to ensure that the monthly customer release schedule was met every time. Working closely with the Program Manager, Shikhar defined processes and activities for integration of program practices by aligning workstream reporting, program schedule, budget definition and cost management and risks/issues management.Shikhar designed and implemented a communication framework for the program across the project teams, Business Governance committee and Steering Committee, that ensured that each stakeholder group had the information they needed to make strategic decisions that affected the outcome of the program.Shikhar coached and mentored the new Program Office team in PMO best practices which he established to provide competent service to the Program which enabled the bank to operate the internal program office function with confidence.

At AGL, Shikhar worked as a senior tech advisory consultant on Data Management Capability (DMC) Project for drawing out the framework for AGL’s strategic data management strategy. This project took a top-down view of the enterprise-wide business information needs, mapping the data used to provide the necessary business management measures and functional use of enterprise data. Shikhar prepared a recommendation report with conceptual data overlay model and data governance framework for endorsement of enterprise data subject “source of truths”. Further he worked closely with Senior Partner on preparation of viable business case to invest in “Data Strategy” for CIO to take it to Executive Team for discussion and approval.In parallel to the Data Management Capability, Shikhar managed “Merchant & Finance Process and Data Improvement project” which is a break-away component of DMC to address the specific data and process problems being experienced in the business processes producing the electricity load forecasting, and the use of those results in the revenue forecast and accruals calculations. In the first phase, Shikhar led the team of four process analysts on the principles of Agile methodology within a 6 weeks’ time-boxed schedule by creating user stories to map and assess the business processes and supporting data flows and prepared a recommendations report followed by implementation of the system and process change recommendations. In the second phase Shikhar implemented the system and process change recommendations from phase 1 and led the team to perform analysis on next set of prioritised user stories for analysis. As the Scrum Master for this project, Shikhar led daily stand ups and weekly retrospective meeting for tracking progress, removing any obstacles on the way and consistently reinforce the learnings back into the project.

The Transformation Program for Telstra – Reporting Data Warehouse aimed to transform the business to contemporary practices while maintaining critical business-as-usual and customer-facing processes. Shikhar led and delivered the projects for the development of multiple Data Warehouses and Business Intelligence applications as part of the Transformation program with a focus on Telstra’s major strategic marketing and financial reporting applications. He also delivered remediation projects for existing data warehouses and applications to maintain the business continuity. During these projects, Shikhar led the project teams of up to 20 business and technical specialists including permanent staff and contractors to deliver data warehousing project while managing the costs, schedule, scope and risks/issues of the projects.

Telstra’s Management Information Reporting and Analytics (MIRA) Solution Delivery Centre was central point for all Management Reporting data warehouses, Business Intelligence applications and Dashboard reporting applications in Telstra. In this role, Shikhar worked with business stakeholder to translate and document business and technical requirements for MIRA Enterprise Data Warehouse projects. Shikhar engaged a broad cross-section of the business to elicit and define functional and non-functional requirements, translated Telstra’s information management strategies, goals and requirements into the technical solution, and validated these to meet the end users’ objectives and requirements. This role involved managing expectations of a wide range of stakeholders and understanding the business processes of different divisions of Telstra such as billing, finance, customer care, call networks, strategic marketing etc. Shikhar managed the requirements from the scope definition and business requirements to testing and till the delivery of requirements and agreed solutions into production environment with business acceptance.With the knowledge and experience in Telstra’s Enterprise data warehouse which is Telstra’s single data warehouse for customer interactions, utilising segmentation, modelling and propensity scores for making marketing decisions, Shikhar provided the key input into the design of the a major strategic marketing analytical solution which was platformed onto SAS solution integrated with Teradata database to support a single analytical environment and tool set to assist customer insight and strategic marketing analysis. As a result of this project, Telstra achieved a tenfold increase in its capacity to track and predict customer behaviour and deliver more tailored offers to its customers, resulting in improved customer service, retention and loyalty.
