Spacecraft Thermal Engineer
Current● Supporting the thermal control design of the Near-Earth Observatory Surveyor since 2021. Responsibilities include the construction of the JPL telescope and instrument enclosure subsystem thermal model and the spacecraft system model by integrating all the subsystem models delivered by all the partners. The spacecraft system thermal model allows each partner to conduct sensitivity studies of its own subsystem. Performed thermal analyses to simulate all mission phases from launch to the final orbit for identifying and resolving mission constraints due to thermal considerations. ● Supported the thermal design of Europa Clipper from 2013-2021 from concept definition to completion of Critical Design Review (Ref 1). Constructed Europa spacecraft thermal model of increasing complexity corresponding to the evolving thermal mechanical design. Integrated the evolving spacecraft bus thermal model delivered by Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory into the Europa thermal model. Performed numerous analyses to support the development of the Europa Clipper thermal control design. https://dataverse.jpl.nasa.gov/file.xhtml?fileId=59016&version=2.0● Supported the anomaly investigation of the International Space Station (ISS) in collaboration with Boeing Aerospace. Constructed a detailed thermal model of the ISS FAST MAST for predicting the thermal conditions that would cause the buckling of the FAST MAST. Mapped the temperature distribution onto a structural FEM for performing thermal structural analyses to predict thermally-induced deformation. ● Supported the research and resolution of the Pioneer Anomaly (Ref 2). Developed a detailed thermal model of the Pioneer Spacecraft and applied the methodology developed by the JPL-ASL thermal team to calculate the directional acceleration of Pioneer due to thermal radiation emitted from all the spacecraft surfaces. https://journals.aps.org/prl/abstract/10.1103/PhysRevLett.108.241101
Junior Assistant Development Engineer
● Utilized solid modeling software to design, optimize, fabricate and assemble a vacuum pump and a pinhole projector to analyze x-ray images. ● Worked in a team of faculty and staff to create a generator to provide an electrical supply to high level voltage devices. ● Developed a high resolution x-ray device to capture the images of cryogenic targets for inertial confinement fusion.
Experimental Techniques Laboratory Teaching Assistant
● Instructed students in the methods and techniques of experimental procedures, data collection, error analysis and results interpretation.● Evaluated students ability to understand engineering concepts related to experiments in circuit analysis, heat transfer, stress and strain of deformable bodies and technical report writing.
