Golden Eagles play in the Pacific League of Nippon Pro Baseball. Baseball Strategy Group is tasked with collecting, organizing and maintaining all relevant player data / video, producing reports for coaches, scouts and GM / AGM, and engaging in cross-department projects to enhance fan experience. I also double as a data engineer for the R&D Group.

Sports data consumption is very different in Japan compared to United States. In creating new sports data products, emphasis must be placed on growing the market as a whole rather than replacing or slightly improving existing products and consumption patterns. As the only programmer and English speaker on STATS Japan sales team, I am charged with identifying market opportunities, building out samples and testing product ideas, improving STATS / Kyodo News brand and connecting with international partners. Examples include:- Build a baseball analytic site to be used by media, which leverages STATS Japan pitch-by-pitch data and provides insights that were not widely available before. Currently used by News Agency, TV broadcasters and magazines publications. - Identify international partners with negotiate partnerships that benefit both sides. - Educate technology holders (such as Panasonic and Fujitsu) on global trends on sports technology and present recommendations on collaborative strategy.

I currently write columns for American Football Magazine, one of the two magazine publications in Japan specializing in American Football. I wrote biweekly columns for NFL Japan mobile site, focusing on helping Japanese audience become familiar with the game of football. Every column I choose a football word that also carries another meaning in daily life, and analyze the term from both views while adding statistical twists. statsninja is a site designed to enhance fan experience for sports viewing. By simply tagging games fans have attended, they can learn how teams perform in their presence, how players perform compared to their norm, and keeps a record of their fandom. - designed SQL database structure- built out the website in Python with the founding partner- implemented a "on this day" tweet bot that highlights interesting facts from past eight years- run daily maintenance scripts checking for new players and other anomaly
