About Shintaro Tay

As a photojournalist and producer for The Straits Times, I produce compelling stories that capture the essence of the everyday man. I use my skills in photography, journalism, and filmmaking to produce documentaries, picture essays, and news reports that reach a wide audience on various platforms.I graduated with the highest distinction from the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information at NTU, where I specialised in documentary filmmaking and multimedia journalism. In 2016, my film Saving Sungei was nominated for the Student Documentary Award at the Sheffield International Documentary Festival. In 2022, I was selected to take part in the 35th Eddie Adams Workshop in Jeffersonville, New York, where I learned from the best in the industry. My goal is to meld photography, journalism, and filmmaking to shine a light on overlooked stories of the everyday man. I am always looking for new and innovative ways to tell stories that matter.
