Profile bio

About Ryan Emilio

I have spent the majority of my life associated with the United States military in some fashion or another. Before I was born my mother had already began what would become her 20 year military career. I grew up as a military brat with some of the best years of my childhood being spent overseas. Eventually I had the honor of serving myself as a Religious Program Specialist. My enlisted naval career started October 2011 and ended May 2021.As a dependent child I experienced the hardships that deployments have on family members left behind. As a Religious Program Specialist I had the privilege of being the first person many Sailors and Marines saw when seeking assistance due to the multitude stress factors the military life-style has on it's personnel.I experienced first hand many of those stressors myself during the 3 deployments of my 9 year Naval career. Now as a veteran I also have first hand knowledge of several struggles many veterans face when returning home. Currently I am pursuing my Masters of Social Work at the University of Georgia. My goal upon graduation is to first work within the Veteran Affairs at one of Georgia's three military hospitals. My dream is to once again have the honor of serving those who serve. My drive is finding my place in the quest of empowering our veterans, service members, and military families so all parties thrive both at sea and ashore.
