Haverim - Friends for Health is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping low-income, underprivileged and needy people in Israel who can't afford their medication. The organization distributes life-saving medication - free of charge - to over 3,000 people every year; chronic patients who simply can't afford acquiring them. Friends for Health's main activities are carried out through 4 major projects: • Haverim operates a large activity center for sick and disabled children from all over the country. We provide a wide range of activities, including free summer camps, trips abroad, parties and other ventures designed to help these children enjoy life in the same way as their peers. • The Free Pharmacy project - a licensed and registered pharmacy that operates under the Israeli Ministry of Health's regulations and guidelines. This pharmacy receives donations of medicines from major pharmaceutical companies and medical institutions and is intended to provide patients with chronic drugs, both generic brand name. • The Free Medicine project collects unused medication from private donor and patients who have stopped or changed their therapy. The organization dispenses unexpired and unopened medicine to patients who simply cannot afford them. Haverim dispenses over 40,000 packages of life-saving medication a year. Friends for Health was awarded the President's Award in 2013, the Health Ministry Award in 2011, and a medal for Distinguished Service from the National Council for Volunteering in 2008.
