About Shira Hoffer

Hi there! I'm Shira :)I am currently pursuing my undergraduate degree from Harvard College in Social Studies and Religion, focusing on the intersection of speech, religion, and harm in the classroom. Outside of class, I serve as the Founder and Executive Director of the Institute for Multipartisan Education, a nonprofit dedicated to sustainably increasing and improving capacity for curious and constructive disagreement on campus. I founded IME in the aftermath of October 7th, 2023, which revealed the fault lines and gaps around constructive disagreement on campus. Alongside IME, I run the Hotline for Israel/Palestine, a texting hotline dedicated to responding to inquiries about the region — not with definitive answers, but with resources from multiple perspectives to empower the user to develop an informed position. Our volunteers, who come from different national, political, and religious backgrounds, have responded to over 300 inquiries from across the country. They act as a sounding board for open inquiry into one of the more complex issues of our time.I'd love to connect!
