Dissertation title: Phytochemical and pharmacological screening of Pachygone ovata. This research work focused on authenticating the usage of medicinal plants and partial isolation of bioactive components responsible for its anti-inflammatory and anti-arthritic potential, while exploring its potency in vitro and in vivo (on rodents). Preliminary in vitro screening was conducted for anti-diabetic, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory potential of various fractions. Followed by isolation and purification (TLC, column chromatography and HPLC) of bioactive molecules. Consequently, characterization of purified molecules (LCMS and NMR) was investigated. Further, in vivo studies (antinociceptive and anti-arthritic) was carried out using rat models for the study.
