As Director, I am the fearless leader of IT and geospatial challenges big and small. I have the pleasure of working closely with a talented, energetic and professional group of individuals. I am responsible for designing, establishing, and maintaining our organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the goals and objectives of the Center, including garnering external funding via contracts and grants, supervision of personnel, ensure project goals are met on time and within budget. I develop and manage EDAC’s operating budgets as appropriate, and perform periodic cost and productivity analyses. In short, I have an awesome staff and enjoy my job!My research interests include relational database development, data mining and integration of spatial and non-spatial data, the application of computer-intensive methods to large geospatial data analysis problems, and web-based mapping. Including geographical data creation, analysis/modeling and web-based data delivery system development interests include relational database development, integration of spatial and non-spatial data, the application of computer-intensive methods to large data analysis problems, and web-based data entry and data delivery system development.

As the Geospatial Program Manager I have more than twenty-five years of experience with geospatial project design, implementation and management, and I have been a certified Geographic Information Systems Professional since 2005. Management activities include geospatial data application definition, report and proposal writing, presentation development and delivery, and communication with local, state and federal agencies. I oversee the creation of project Web sites to supplement EDAC’s custom, interactive Web mapping applications. Over the years the Geospatial Program has been involved in collaborative projects with a wide-variety of clients from local to international programs. Recent projects include geospatial analysis mapping for the New Mexico Department on Information Technology, the Department of Health, New Mexico Minerals and Natural Resources Forestry Division, US Bureau of Census, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Native Diabetes Wellness Program, National Science Foundation (EPSCoR) and multiple NASA funded projects.

The New Mexico EDGE (Education Designed to Generate Excellence in the Public Sector) is an umbrella organization operated through NM Cooperative Extension Service under which the County College (founded with NM Association of Counties), the NM Certified Public Manager® Program, and other continuing education certification programs are administered.The idea behind the NM EDGE is to expand training programs beyond county government into other areas of the public sector such as municipal entities, state agencies and other public-oriented organizations that have a need for specialized training. Curriculum committees are established to help NM EDGE identify educational gaps and propose classes to fill those gaps. NM EDGE is a collaborative effort among its strategic partners and potential strategic partners in New Mexico's public sector.
