I have taken our existing Revenue Recognition model (CVR) and re-built that, with the external developer, into NAV. Rather than basing our percent complete from site manager’s measured drawings, the bespoke job card module in our NAV System will capture the quantities complete and feed to the revenue recognition model to accurately report our revenue to be recognised. I have implemented some features in our bespoke system to ensure that Variation orders are more accurately recorded, allowing for them to be billed back to the developer accurately and timely, rather than captured at the end of the job when we discover we have carried out more work than initially budgeted.I have carried out various reconciliations, to ensure that our cost capture and reporting is accurate. The Job Ledger Entries and General Ledger entries have never been reconciled and I have spent a considerable amount of time ensuring this has been cleared and we have full understanding of what impacts the two ledgers to go out of line. I have also provided in depth analysis of any cost, time and quality variances, which in turn can be fedback to our estimating team to ensure our quotes are updated with accurate methods of work and prices for our materials. I worked to tight deadlines so prioritised developmental changes required. The new system included Job cost and revenue breakdown, allowing for more detailed reporting of actuals to budgets, with job cards completed by our operatives on site determining the work completed to date. Once the system was implemented, I was involved in roll out across the business, including training for a wide variety of employees so required a full business understanding and how people used the system so I could adapt training to suit. I also tracked further developments required.I was responsible for working with a developer to create a Plant system which interacted with the new NAV system to ensure we could accurately report what our live hires were and we had a tool to calculate accurate accruals.I was a key, senior team member, responsible for ensuring the data held in the system was accurate and up to date. This involved reviewing business processes and adapting information held and reported in line with the changes in the business. Show less

When I started work with Energetics they had been recently acquired by a private equity partner and the reporting requirements increased rapidly. I was responsible for developing and reporting business KPIs to Macquarie Bank, ensuring Balance Sheet Reconciliations were in place and fully auditable, implementing new processes and system developments.I was trained in Jet Reporting and have written a number of reports that are used throughout the business to report financial and business information. The Revenue Recognition model (CVR) was the largest and most heavily relied upon report that I wrote. Prior to being written, Energetics used a number of Excel spreadsheets, given the nature of the business these should all have flowed, however due to hard coded numbers and breaks in links this was not the case. I had to build peoples’ trust in my model, including senior managers, private equity partners and auditors and worked closely in flushing out the differences through the accounts to the model. I produced a variety of monthly reports which were presented to the Board including; Variance Analysis, comparison of month’s actual performance to forecast and Debt. I also assisted the Divisional Manager with recruitment and staff appraisals.I gained valuable commercial knowledge, with involvement in final accounting of NEC 3 Option C Contracts, producing and chasing applications, within strict deadlines, for payment and monitoring contracts and CVIs, ensuring that we do not post more income than contractually entitled to. I produced a template for the backup to be produced for final accounts and trained several members of staff on how to carry this out. I produced an annual budget and monthly forecasts. I based the budget on QS estimates of income for each work stream and calculated fixed and variable costs based on, for example, employee costs on actual payroll and variable costs on the previous year’s costs to income percentage. These budgets would then be challenged by the operations team and submitted to central finance once an agreement was reached. The monthly forecast was calculated between myself and the programme manager, taking into account any impacts from external factors, i.e. road departments, availability of subcontractors, purchase of non-standard materials.
