Accounting Controller
CurrentAs Controller, reporting to the VP Finance, responsible for delivering accurate and timely reporting of the financial results, including budgets, of the consolidated group to the holding company. I am responsible for managing the General Accounting department comprising 10 direct reports, including Process Manager who oversees the day-to-day operations of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable departments. I work with Marketing, IT and Field Operations Senior Management, ensuring timely communication of corporate initiatives to help decentralized branch locations understand the implication to their processes, and ultimately to their financial statements. Key achievement include:◼ Led data extraction, analysis, and reporting to support senior management decision-making processes.◼ Built out of the general ledger chart of accounts and reporting applications for new revenue lines, acquisitions, re-organizations, and new corporate initiatives.◼ Involved with restructure decisions at various levels in the group allowing for greater flexibility, integration, standardization, and economies of scale.◼ Reduced close period by reengineering processes with an emphasis on the ‘critical path’. Worked with IT to develop automated workflows to enhance visibility of bottlenecks and maximize system processing.◼ Converted the inventory system to reduce the company’s exposure to obsolete inventories, minimized stock shrinkage, reduced head count, and facilitated efficient physical cycle counts.
