Through in-depth and thought-provoking journalism, Prism reflects the lived experiences of people most impacted by injustice. As an independent and nonprofit newsroom led by journalists of color, we tell stories from the ground up: to disrupt harmful narratives and to inform movements for justice. Our vision is collective liberation and justice for people and communities who are historically oppressed.• Responsible for Prism’s budgeted revenue of $1.94M, with active support from the BOD, editor-in-chief, and COO.• Sits on the leadership team to help set and progress organizational goals, develop strategic policy, and lead organizational priorities.• Manages a portfolio of current and prospective foundations and major donors, including cultivating those relationships.• Supports the COO in building, updating, and reporting organizational budget lines for income to ensure all projected foundation and major donor revenue is on track throughout the year.• Leads in the development of fundraising materials, including emails, program updates, impact reports, slide presentations, and mailings. • Assists in planning board meetings, board development, and board engagement in fundraising to support Prism and its mission. • Oversees the Reflective Journalism Project (RJP), Prism’s cornerstone programming workshop, developed to train aspiring writers, community leaders, and frontline social justice thinkers on the editorial process to help grow the network of BIPOC writers telling their stories.Key Accomplishments: • Spearheaded the “2023 Fundraising Sprint,” which raised approximately $1M in new and renewed contributions over four months.•Led partnership with Indiegraf to launch Prism’s first ever RJP open call, which garnered 150+ applications, and trained 20 up-and-coming local newsrooms on using storytelling to better serve their communities and activate their audience around solutions.

Competitively selected to be a part of the 2021-2022 Lead SoCal 1 program, a part-time leadership development program for cross-sectoral professionals from across Southern California. The Lead SoCal program aims to provide regional professionals the leadership and management skills, create spaces to practice professional growth, and develop meaningful networks to expand our capacity for impact within our teams, organizations, and communities. Across nine-months, I learned from 1) peer coaching, 2) experienced leadership, mindfulness, and DEI facilitators, and 3) the broader Coro, Lead Programs, and regional community through Coro’s unique blend of experiential programming to stretch my professional and management skill-set through doing. The curriculum included a wide range of professional skills-building, such as Adaptive Leadership, DEIB and Anti-Racism frameworks, Effective Communication and Advocacy, Effective Inquiry and Critical Thinking, Giving and Receiving Feedback, Interpersonal Leadership Styles™, Managing Diverse Teams, Mindfulness and Gratitude Practices, Project Management tools, Public Narrative frameworks, Self-Awareness and Self-Management tools, and Stakeholder Analysis and Coalition Building, among others. I am now a part of the broader Coro alumni community that includes over 11,000 alumni nationwide, spanning sectors, industries, experiences, and backgrounds, all eager to make an impact in our communities, teams, organizations, and in each other.

Rock the Vote is a nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to building the political power of young people. For over 30 years, Rock the Vote has revolutionized the way they use pop culture, music, art, and technology to engage young people in politics and build their collective power. At Rock the Vote, I led and managed major gifts, board development, foundation giving, small donor programs, and fundraising.• As the first-ever Associate Director of Development at Rock the Vote, I spearheaded the 2020 fundraising efforts and established systems for donor stewardship/relations, foundation giving, and board development. • Lead efforts in raising $5.6M in the 2020 election cycle, with $3.7M coming from grants/foundations, $1M from corporate partnerships, and $730k from email programs, fundraisers/events, and mid-level donors. • Directed an integrated annual fund program, which included developing a donor communications strategy. • Managed the development of assets and publications to support fundraising activities, such as a monthly email update to major donors, decks/memos for potential donors, and annual reports. • Managed grant writing and reports, collaborating with grant writer, executive director, and other programming staff. Oversaw foundation agreements to ensure deliverables and deadlines were met.

For more than 40 years, Liberty Hill Foundation has been the Los Angeles epicenter for social justice, incubating cutting-edge social movements, transforming neighborhoods, and empowering the leaders of tomorrow. Liberty Hill is committed to racial equity, LBGTQ rights, economic opportunity, and environmental justice by advancing movements through a unique combination of grants, leadership training, and capacity/alliance building. They are considered a national social justice leader by the Obama Foundation, named a National Impact Community Lead in 2019.• Led Communications department during the interim period of new CCO search. Oversaw and managed department needs around written and visual content, external communications with media and org stakeholders, social media, PR/marketing strategies, and graphic design. • Launched and oversaw institutional 2018 Leaders to Watch grant program. • Oversaw and managed relationships and project communications with outside consultants including proactively monitoring contract and project deliverables.• Developed systems to streamlined internal processes for interdepartmental projects and cross-functional collaboration.• Built and maintained relationships with local and national partners/grantees such as The Obama Foundation, The California Endowment, Community Coalition, LA Voice, and the City of Los Angeles.• Prioritized diversity and inclusions in philanthropy by collaborating with the HR Department to start a Diversity & Inclusion Staff Workgroup. Oversaw the operational and logistical aspects of the Parent College program at its three regional sites (Watts, South Los Angeles, and Boyle Heights). This included managing the parent outreach and communications aspects of the program. Parent College is a parent education program that provides workshops and information to parents and family members to help them become education advocates for their children. It is unique in that it garnered attention and recognition among key education leaders across Los Angeles, California, and nationally.• Coached 8 community outreach staff - who assisted with outreach, logistics, and implementation of programming.• Developed and led targeted outreach strategies to reach a higher number of families; particularly families of LAUSD students with significant academic and socio-emotional needs.• Co-authored bilingual (English/Spanish) Parent Learning Curriculum. Topics included: Testing, Language Arts, and College-Going Culture, Leadership/Advocacy. • Managed all logistics for Parent College events (18/year, 1900+ participants), including site-based “Comes to You” (11/year), & annual University Day (1000+ participants).• Managed Parent College fiscal responsibilities -$150,000+ Budget & Invoice Tracking, found ways to cut program costs, and save over $15K.• Coordinated Parent College training and professional development for school staff, teachers, and facilitators.

Founded in 1998 by the creators of the Academy Award®-winning short film TREVOR, The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning (LGBTQ) young people under 25. During my time at Trevor, I succeeded in Community Engagement department first as a Volunteer Coordinator then transitioning to Community Engagement Manager. This included recruiting, screening, on-boarding, and training 300+ volunteers monthly, and 1,300+ active ongoing volunteers.• Developed policies for volunteers in financial aid, screening, background checks, training, and communication.• Spearheaded and implemented a new volunteer on-boarding procedure. The redesign improved the effectiveness of screening, collection of data, and training of new and active volunteers. This reduced on-boarding time by 87%, and an increased number of active volunteers. Transition decreased department costs and saved staff work hours.• Trained as a volunteer to answer calls from LGBTQ youth ages 13-24, providing guidance and support through crisis situations. • Volunteered additional time in training new volunteers. Trained 5 incoming classes (total of over 120 hrs. of training) and led several training seminars.

The Washington Service Corps Individual Placement Program engages AmeriCorps members in service with local community-based and nonprofit organizations, schools, city, county, and federal government entities to address the unmet local needs of the community in which they serve. In my time with the AmeriCorps program, I was matched with Neighborhood House; a nonprofit organization founded in 1906 that is known as one of the oldest social service agencies in the Puget Sound region. During my time in the program, I worked with the CASAstart team to provide in-school assistance and case-management services to a diverse population of underserved youth in some of Seattle's most underfunded schools. Some of my achievements during that time include:• Created/Implemented a yearlong mentorship program for youth with influential community mentors. Coordinated logistical needs of bi-monthly events and outings. • Created and Introduced 10-week Youth Program in Winter 2011; this included strategizing workshops and lesson plans with community partners, teachers, and school staff.

As a Resident Assistants for The Evergreen State College, I supported the mission of Residential and Dining Services to be a purposeful, just and sustainable community by fostering safe, healthy, inclusive, and thriving living environments on campus. I worked in the first-year on-campus apartment residences with approximately 65 freshmen and transfer students. As an RA, I was responsible for facilitating the development of a healthy, safe and inclusive community, while maintaining administrative and on-duty responsibilities throughout the school-year.
