    Project: Removal of Strontium ions from simulated nuclear waste water. [Sponsors: Dept. of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India]• This study aimed at developing adsorbent for removal of Strontium ions from its solution. Natural resins were utilized as adsorbents as they are readily available, environmentally benign and cost effective. Parametric study for these parameters: time, pH, metal concentration and polymer quantity. Efficiency of Strontium removal was performed by analyzing aliquot using UV Spectrophotometer.Key outcomes• Eighty five per cent removal of strontium was achieved after using tannin based polymeric adsorbents. • Obtained core shell based polymeric adsorbents for removal of Strontium ions under controlled conditions.• Compared to conventional method of chemical precipitation, natural resins as adsorbents are: 1) more cost effective 2) easier to procure (naturally available) and 3) less detrimental to the environment.
