Hi, I am Shiv, Engineering Manager & Software Architect by profession and have interests in Design Thinking, Problem solving, *NIX, programming and computer science.Having grown up in a family of mathematicians, always been mentored to learn, unlearn and relearn and to have critical thinking."Why" has always been part of the learning; Knowing X^0 equals 1 was not that important; knowing “Why” it was 1, was more important.Innovation and critical thinking was always important; Making a game was not an option, but to design a game that a player won't win against a computer, was a challenge.Started my career in Education and worked a very enriching year, learnt a lot there while teaching programming, Linux and Data structures.In 2005, got an opportunity as an Engineer at DecisionCraft, Ahmedabad, where I have met some of the brightest minds in industry for Data Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics and computer science. Was part of some good initiatives and projects there and could use C++, programming and troubleshooting skills into practice.In 2006, got to work in Elitecore, Ahmedabad and become part of the telecom startups. Here, I worked for an outsourced development unit for Verso VoIP Solution which later became Neox (we only named it!) VoIP Solutions. During these outsourcing days, we worked with Verso's US team for VoIP and RADIUS based protocols for enhancements and defect fixes.In 2007, moved to Bangalore to work for Torres Networks for an outsourcing delivery from Elitecore, for their in-house networking solution with need of high throughput. Worked on various networking protocols like TCP/IP, SNMP and WiMAX to build product prototypes based on Torres’ patented design.In 2008, moved to Ahmedabad to continue working in Neox product at Elitecore. Initially there was no team to begin with, and from multiple Sun Solaris based softswitch, to Sun's T1 based virtual deployment to Linux based one box system, to making a world class team, to diversify the product into enterprise segments and contact center industry; It has been a long and satisfying journey.Have been part of Tier-1 customer engagements in both national & international projects and could contribute to full delivery life cycle i.e. from SRS to development to delivery and training.When I am not working on programming, designs and mentoring teams; I read books, teach programming and try my hands on Chess, Cycling, Harmonica and photography.If you want to discuss designs, solve problems, create solutions, or just feel like talking, please write to me at shivpremani@gmail.com
