Shiv is currently the Chief Risk Officer, CCIB at Standard Chartered Bank (SCB); with overall risk responsibility for Corporate, Commercial & Institutional Banking (CCIB) clients across all geographies. He is also the Non Executive Director at Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) Limited.Shiv chair’s SCB's CCIB Risk Committee which oversees all the risks associated with the CCIB business and is member of the Group Risk Management Team, Global Strategy Delivery (GSD) Squad & Remuneration Forum. He is responsible for risk managing a portfolio of over USD 500 billion spanning across 60 countries, managed via a team of 400 Risk Officers. Besides exercising direct control responsibility for Credit and Market Risk, he is extensively involved in maintaining alignment with risk appetite by rebalancing risks or controls that may be required in response to internal and external factors. Prior to this role, he was the Regional Chief Risk Officer (RCRO), ASEAN & South Asia, at SCB managing all risk types for the region. Before the RCRO role, Shiv was Senior Regional Credit Officer, Asia, providing credit risk oversight for all CCIB clients across Asia. He has also been the Global Head of Credit Risk- Specialized Finance, Funds & Traded Products. Shiv has been in the financial services industry for over 30 years, of which the last 25+ years have been with SCB where he has held various senior Risk roles across Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai & Mumbai. Before joining the financial services industry, Shiv worked for 3 years with Tata Motors, India. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and Master's from Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore. He leads the Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) initiative for the Global Risk function and is a Member of SCB's Global D&I Council. He was conferred the Leading Risk Practitioner by the Asian Banker (2015) and the IBF Fellow (2016) by Institute of Banking & Finance, Singapore. He completed the Asian Financial Leaders Program in October 2023.On the personal side, he is striving hard to ‘return’ to the society via various initiatives including sponsoring education for needy students, mentoring, teaching, participating in industry associations and social initiatives. He is an Audit & Risk Management Committee member of Yellow Ribbon, Singapore, Investment & Finance Committee Member at SATA CommHealth besides being a member of ISCOS. He is a guest speaker at various institutes and conferences including RiskMinds, Risk.net & GARP.
