Working on a master's thesis with Cohere Consultants to build a tool that can remotely characterise soil properties using information that is easily available on the internet. A large part of the research comprises of combining different data sources (such as geologic maps, satellite imagery, topographic data and current climate) in such a way that the most likely soil profile can be generated. A successful outcome of this research will make it possible to predict soil classes with a level of confidence in locations where no in-situ data is available.

This work is part of the DAP Well project that is being carried out in Delft, whereby my job involves the preparation of soil and rock samples which have been drilled from the monitoring well. The samples have to be prepared and stored carefully so that they can be studied for the biogeology.

By working closely with the Lustrum and De Ondergrondse board, we successfully hosted a week of activities that gave our members a lot of exposure to geotechnical projects while taking part in exciting activities.
