RADCOM, a part of the RAD group, is a leading provider of Mobile Networks Network Function Virtualization solutions, with top Tier 1 customers using its portfolio (ATT, Verizon, Telefonica, Deutsche Telekom, British Telecom, and more). My role at RADCOM combines aspects of system architecture, solution architecture, and actual hands-on implementation. I’m responsible for both the design and implementation of the migration of our (once embedded) portfolio from plain, ESXi based virtual machines to full OpenStack based integration. This includes the design and implementation of our OpenStack Heat code, Ansible code, and Cloud-init code - and wrapping Python code. Additionally, as part of this work, I’m responsible for the design and implementation of our integrated onboarding and instantiation code with a number of NFV orchestration platforms, such as ATT ECOMP (ONAP), Telefonica UNICA and more. This also includes designing system lifecycle management features, such as sizing, scaling, upgrading, closed-loop, etc. I’m also playing a key role in the design of production deployments, intended to be provisioned on customer premises and also in an ongoing consulting during the early stages of the deployment. This includes dealing with topics such as customer cloud automation and integration, system performance tuning, deployment capacity planning, and sizing, etc. An additional key subject that I’m heavily involved with is the design, and partial implementation, of the transition of our system components from being OpenStack and virtual machine-based to being Docker containers based and Kubernetes orchestrated. This includes the design of gradually switching to a micro-services based system architecture.

In this role I’m responsible for architecting and designing NFV based Service and Application Awareness solutions for Huawei’s Mobile networks portfolio, from ground up. A key part of this role is providing the right answers to challenges such as: Migrating from hardware/embedded based to software based, VNFC and/or VNF, integration with other Huawei's products(e.g. Huawei’s CloudEdge and SmartCare), interoperability with third-parties using standard protocols(e.g. IPFIX), Orchestration, Lifecycle management, Load-balancing, Scaling, High-availability, performance optimizations, service-chaining(SFC/NSH), in-band/out-of-band packet traversal path, message queuing and more. In addition, I lead a team of 8 globally spread engineers, whom under my technical guidance provide the actual implementation of the different design phases.

As a technical leader at Alcatel-Lucent's Cloud R&D center in Israel, specializing in Virtualization and IaaS technologies, I’m responsible for designing, implementing, troubleshooting, automating and deploying, our “CloudNode” – the server cluster, the IaaS software(OpenStack and CloudStack) and the automation engine that functions as the infrastructure layer for CloudBand - our groundbreaking, carrier grade, NFV(Network Functions Virtualization) platform.I this role, I deal with the following subjects, on a daily basis:- Designing custom cloud infrastructure solutions based on customer demands (Tier 1 carriers), implementing them and integrating with our OpenStack/CloudStack cluster solution(CloudNode).- Extending OpenStack capabilities by customizing OpenStack's code.- Troubleshooting our large scale OpenStack deployments, occasionally by going through OpenStack's code to figure out issues root cause.- Making SDN related design decisions and integrating our carrier grade SDN solution - Nuage Networks Virtualized Network Service (VNS) , as part of the CloudNode.- Troubleshooting Linux servers for complex problems at all OS layers, occasionally by looking at applications source code to find the cause and the solution. - Finding bottlenecks and solving performance problems using Dynamic Tracing techniques and tools, such as SystemTap and perf.- Conducting system-wide benchmarks and interpreting the results. - Working hand-to-hand with our architects on designing and implementing advanced performance optimizations for NFV applications, including the use of NUMA placement optimizations, vCPU placement optimizations, Huge Pages, Big VMs, DPDK, SR-IOV and more.- Developing our Virtual OpenStack and CloudStack Clouds, that serves as a virtual representation of CloudBand, for R&D use (Utilizing 'Nested Virtualization').In addition, I’m advising R&D team leaders and developers on all of the above matters.http://www.alcatel-lucent.com/solutions/cloudband

Filling the role of a technical expert in our Virtualization & App Infrastructure team, I’m responsible for the design, implementation and administration of a Citrix XenApp farm, serving thousands of daily end-users, and of a VMware ESXi farm of thousands of production VMs.As part of this job, I'm troubleshooting, analyzing and optimizing performance, almost on a daily basis.I also specialize in programming custom utilities and scripts, using Python, PowerShell, PowerCLI and C#, mainly for VMware and NetApp APIs, which are being used by both colleagues and end-users, in production.Being successful in this position demands an in-depth knowledge of Virtualization, Operating Systems, Storage, Networking and Scripting.

As a Unix Engineer for the LADPC, I was responsible for building and maintaining the production Unix and Linux servers of several municipalities and several local government institutes, providing Database, Storage and Application services. I also developed custom automation scripts and installation packages and scripted monitoring tools, using Python, Perl and Shell.Furthermore, I served as a Tier 3/Escalation engineer, for lower level engineers and technicians, focusing on Linux troubleshooting, performance analysis and performance tuning cases.

At IDF’s Center of Computing and Information Systems, I served as a Systems Engineer, responsible for the installation, configuration and administration of a very large scale Citrix MetaFrame/Presentation Server farm, which was in use by R&D engineers, to test and develop Intelligence supporting applications, mainly for the use of GOC Army Headquarter's ground-warfare corps.During that time, I also installed, configured and administered dozens of Unix and Redhat Linux servers, providing Web, DNS, NFS, LDAP and Database services for R&D teams.Additionally, I specialized in system scripting and automation, using Python, Perl and Shell.
