Hands-On Cloud Architect, Kubernetes & Openstack
CurrentRADCOM, a part of the RAD group, is a leading provider of Mobile Networks Network Function Virtualization solutions, with top Tier 1 customers using its portfolio (ATT, Verizon, Telefonica, Deutsche Telekom, British Telecom, and more). My role at RADCOM combines aspects of system architecture, solution architecture, and actual hands-on implementation. I’m responsible for both the design and implementation of the migration of our (once embedded) portfolio from plain, ESXi based virtual machines to full OpenStack based integration. This includes the design and implementation of our OpenStack Heat code, Ansible code, and Cloud-init code - and wrapping Python code. Additionally, as part of this work, I’m responsible for the design and implementation of our integrated onboarding and instantiation code with a number of NFV orchestration platforms, such as ATT ECOMP (ONAP), Telefonica UNICA and more. This also includes designing system lifecycle management features, such as sizing, scaling, upgrading, closed-loop, etc. I’m also playing a key role in the design of production deployments, intended to be provisioned on customer premises and also in an ongoing consulting during the early stages of the deployment. This includes dealing with topics such as customer cloud automation and integration, system performance tuning, deployment capacity planning, and sizing, etc. An additional key subject that I’m heavily involved with is the design, and partial implementation, of the transition of our system components from being OpenStack and virtual machine-based to being Docker containers based and Kubernetes orchestrated. This includes the design of gradually switching to a micro-services based system architecture.
