At RADWIN, I was a technical writer and content developer for technical specs, user manuals, and everything in between for RADWIN's line of products. Duties also include: product photography, and instructive animations.

At Marvell, I prepared semiconductor specs, reference manuals, designer manuals, and almost anything else that flies.

Prepared technical documentation for semiconductor products. Documents included design manuals for DSP systems, Evaluation Platforms (including photography), and others. Most work done in Framemaker on a PC. Some work carried out in Frame on a UNIX platform.

In this exciting start-up company, I set up technical publications department from scratch, including defining the documentation suite, method of working with R&D, Marketing and Operations, as well as tools used to perform technical documentation. I wrote documents including User's Guides, Installation Guides, and Reference Manuals for hardware and software.

Managed the technical documentation department, with an in-house staff of three, plus outside contractors. Was responsible for user documentation for various telephony products. Documentation was prepared in printed and on-line format, including On-Line Help. General: Wrote Installation Guides, User's Guides, and General Descriptions. Duties included original writing, setting book format, creating figures and diagrams. Also narrated product presentations. Marketing: Prepared brochures, responses to RFPs, white papers and other marketing material for telecommunications systems. Duties also included travel abroad for consultation with R&D personnel.

In my second job as a technical writer, I prepared user manuals for surgeons and nurses who used the medical lasers produced by the company. I also wrote service manuals for service technicians. It is this position in which I credit for me evolving from a typist to a true technical writer. I had to do my own research (finding out how the devices worked), had to organize and write original material, I had to deal with suppliers: printers, photographers and graphic artists. All of this in an age in which the diagrams were made by hand, photos were high quality black and whites, and printers used metal plates for printing. Master copies of the books were stored in paper format. But by the end of my time there, I had managed to create a book using only electronic media, for the first time.

In my first job as a technical writer, I wrote and edited for the software of a digital signal processor for a pilotless drone. The project was carried out by IAI's MBT division, and DSI was the "job-shopper" that found the position. I was a DSI employee my whole time there.

In what was then merely "Indigo"'s new start-up, called "Indigo Graphics Systems", I had my first job after college as a research physicist, helping to develop a contact fuser for Indigo's new printer.
