Shannon Nelson Tai is a connector, collaborative leader, and self-starter who is furthering the technology sector’s understanding of investors’ perspective as it relates to governance and material sustainability risks and opportunities. As a Director in BlackRock’s Investment Stewardship (BIS) Team, she leads stewardship activities for technology and telecom companies in the US and Canada. Shannon is a seasoned financial services professional with a deep understanding of financial markets, sustainability, the macro economy and needs of end investors. Shannon previously spent half a decade building and managing relationships to help multinational corporate pension plans and the public pension plans of teachers, firefighters, public employees achieve their financial goals. Prior to pivoting into the sustainability ecosystem in 2019, she spent a few years in the Markets group at the New York Federal Reserve, where in addition to overseeing the Fed’s securities lending program, she informed policy decisions by helping monetary policy makers analyze and understand capital market drivers.Shannon is passionate about improving financial and digital access and inclusion, driving sustainable and equitable outcomes, and supporting inclusive leadership development. She has served in a variety of philanthropic efforts over the years.
