At rosettes, we have involved the local craftsmen in order to utilize their skills and obtain contemporary designs using traditional techniques.“Rosettes” (shamsa) eight-petal floral motif, inherited by Islamic art from great pre-Islamic artistic traditions. This motif was evolved from circles as; solar signs represents the idea of moving – the sun travels in the sky each day and changes its way during the year –the circles were enriched with radiuses to look like spinning wheels. These spinning wheels later developed into flower rosettes. Precisely it symbolizes the cycle of birth, death, honour, and rebirth, and so indicates the passages from one state of existence into another.OUR RESEARCHOur research objective was to identify some fine craftsmen as well as obtain knowledge about the diminishing techniques used in the local market. We intend to introduce a line of products crafted by local artisans, using ancient diminishing techniques and promote it on a global platform.
